It's a nice looking tattoo. Just because diamonds reflect doesn't mean that it needs to be picked apart. It's a cute little song and its her body.

Reflecting light is part of the definition of "shine". However, having worked in the jewelry industry for several years, I'll gladly point where the fail in this tat is...Diamonds reflect all colors of the rainbow. This "diamond" looks terrible.

no... to shine something must produce light aka be the actual light source, like a star or a lightbulb. Everything reflects light that how we see it. Diamonds mostly refract light, with a refraction index of close to 2.5 one of the highest on the planet. So no diamonds in no way shape or form "shine" they reflect and refract light.

How is this a fail? Other than the philosophy behind it, its a great tattoo....its not spelled wrong and it actually looks professionally done....and lets be honest, we all think diamonds are shiny and pretty....so what, that they "reflect"....get over yourselves....

I take it no one knows the definition of shine..Objects including diamonds CAN shine by reflected light..I don't see a fail here.. a little big LOL.

Shine is originally a verb which means to produce light, people very commonly incorrectly use is a noun to try and describe some sort of brightness. In order to shine you much produce the light, in the case of the lyric the diamond is doing the action of "shine" which means she is trying to use it in it's verb definition which is incorrect, since diamonds don't produce light. If she was describing the diamond or said "the diamond has/had a shine to it" then she would be correctly using the word as a noun and the lyric would be correct.
