Actually the picture was taken in Eastern Europe - Romania (check the licence plate), and it is real, it was even on the news. I do not know how that works in the US but here, everything is possible. Very ingenious people :)

Only bad thing is the boot is tied back to his plate. They only come back for 2 reasons. 1. You paid all the fees and fines and they are coming to remove the boot or 2. In has been 24 hours since they booted it (24 hrs here in Chicago) and they are coming to tow it. Once they find the car is no longer there, they will issue a warrant for the owner of the vehicle and he will be charged with a crime. In addition to all the original fees and fines. smdh..... Only worth it if you live out of town and are willing to spend a night in jail.

On second thought, a lot of businesses on the North side of Chicago have started using boots themselves for their parking lots, so hopefully that's all it was and the punishment for that is much less. THAT would be worth it.

actually they tow your car away if it's getting repo'ed. he got booted cuz he has too many unpaid parking tickets!

the tire he changed had a boot on it.. the boots stop the car from moving, he ain't paid his bills lol, sooo, he took off the booted tire and is replacing it with a spare lol! that car was gettin repo'ed.
