Props to everyone commenting that can see this took initiative, determination, creativity, and mad skills. When you look upon this young woman, see her and what she's done without putting "you" or "I" into it. If you need further explanations see my comment a few rows down. God Bless.

nobody in no fashion industry anywhere is looking at skittles and candy wrappers as design inspiration... stop it. they look at nature, architecture, art, other designers, historical ceremonial garb. c'mon please post the link to the outfit you are talking about. there's a difference between costuming, especially for a stage performance and everyday gear or prom dress. be real. no on in fashion is like we have a fashion emergency, quick grab a cheerio box.

Look I had a long ass comment but fuck there's nothing to say that'll change your opinion cause everyone is ntiled to one but just think wat the world would be like if everyone was as closed minded as u and a few other people on here there wouldn't be none of the things we grew to love and also u said someone posted I as an insult but u didn't stop to maybe it was an enemy or hater, it couldve been an art project or a way to show off her creativity. U never kno who's watching. I'm not stink I'll wear but it's very creative nd if she chose to wear who r u to down her decision... Power to u homegirls don't let these haters get u own... Btw u don't have to reply cause I no longer want to deal with ur ignorance

This is tacky
December 13, 2012 at 2:02 pm
I personally wouldn't wear it but if everyone was as closed minded as most people on here there would be no fashion industry, last night I seen someone wearf handle bars from a bike and kids pinwheels on their clothes and guess who made it.... victoria secret... so kill the negativity.

It's called creativity. A high school memory. It's pretty simple, if you don't like the skittles dress... don't wear a skittles dress. I don't think the world is ready for such ignorance and judgement.

Crerativity I like it I would not wear it but if someone can make a dress out of duck tape then I'm sure Skittles is just as good!

well she is stupid or her parents are. either way to think this was a good idea she should not b graduating. her mind isnt ready for the world...or we're not ready for her stupidity. scary!!!

Your comment is one of the most baseless, and ignorant, judgments I've ever read on this site. You have no idea what she's accomplished in her academic career. Furthermore, you have no idea what her prom theme was. The theme could be "Candyland" for all we know. What I find "scary" is your lack of punctuation, grammar, and basic sentence writing skills. John 7:24 "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment." You don't like that one? Matthew 7:1-? "Judge not, that you be not judged..." Are you still lost? How about, Master Wiz "Window" verse 1 "Nobody can judge me but God." Go ahead and enlighten yourself. http://www.reverbnation.com/masterwiz

Shannon Vasquez or you could just make up things and hope this becomes less tacky while attempting to make social commentary. If this was regular at their school for day it would have never made it to nowaygirl unless someone, at her school was posting it to clown her, which is what happens if you go out in public, especially to a formal event wearing a dress made of skittle wrappers. her date has on a black tuxedo straight up. this is not even slightly a fashion statement at this point anymore than young black women wearing pink wigs, its following a trend. People are doing it to their cars and all kind of things which is why there is a section of these. and started with people doing this nonsense:
https://www.google.com/search?q=ghetto+candy+clothes&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=oppBUbn0LaPa2AXW9oHYCQ&ved=0CAcQ_AUoAQ&biw=1190&bih=612#hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=skittle+donk&oq=skittle+donk&gs_l=img.3...21241.24686.0.25449.12.11.0.1.1.0.116.947.9j2.11.0...0.0...1c.1.6.img.kORYRjSraC0&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.43828540,d.b2I&fp=ae30755e9f41c557&biw=1190&bih=612
she wasn't being original she was following. and following a poor example at that. it is tacky and classless period, and we need to teach our young black women better than this. be creative, but don't glue candy wrappers to your clothes.

Actually, there are plenty of reasons people make it to this site. Photos are stolen from Facebook and other social media sites daily; some for reasons such as this site, some for more nefarious reasons, and sometimes people post themselves. Point blank, she was targeted by "someone" and it went viral. I have no problem with looking at people with tattoos spelled wrong, lace-fronts eating up foreheads, or even notorious "Walmart" photos, but she is still a kid. Leave the kids alone. I will say this again, you don't know her academic career-she could be the valedictorian of her class, you don't know why she chose to show her creativity in this way-you are assuming its to follow some Nicki Minaj or Lady Gaga trend, you don't know her-period. I would also like to add, you cannot see that young mans tux from the front-you don't know what it looks like, you ASSume he's wearing "a black tuxedo straight up". Stop ASSuming. You look like an ASS.
Lastly, did you hear that there have been promotions from M & M's, Skittles, and Capri Sun (to name a few) that offer scholarships to students for using their product in a new and unique way? Leave the kids alone.
